If you would like to learn some of the basic skills needed to identify mosses and liverworts using the microscope, this course may be of interest to you.
Organised by Cofnod (the North Wales Environmental Information Centre), the Bryophyte Microscopy Course will be held on 7th February 2020 at the World Museum in Liverpool from 10.30 to 15.30. The course is aimed at beginners who enjoy field bryology and would like to start using microscopes to take their bryophyte identification one step further.
We will be using the lovely microscopes made available by the Museum and learn basic techniques starting with how to make a slide, then looking at the different parts of a bryophyte plant under the microscope, look at different types of cells, and become familiar with the terminology used in microscopic keys.
Course leader: Lucia Ruffino.
