Are you interested in finding out more about wildlife? If so, volunteers are needed to help with national or locally run surveys. Sometimes training is available as part of these but our calendar also has details of other training courses, which may help improve your species identification and survey skills. As part of NWWT's project to try and address a serious decline in swift populations, North Wales Wildlife Trust is offering a free workshop on swift ecology, conservation, surveying and mitigation measures. It will take place at Plas Tan y Bwlch on Tuesday, February 19th 2019, from 10am – 1pm.
The workshop is aimed at ecologists, consultants, and those involved in biodiversity, monitoring, or environmental assessment. It may also be useful to those who want to take an interest in swifts and their conservation to a higher level. It will include information on how to survey swifts, look for signs of nesting, protect nest sites, and how to assess buildings re suitability for different kinds of nest boxes. We will also share information on some known swift nest sites in N Wales.
Tea and coffee will be served, and parking is available at Plas Tan y Bwlch, which is the Snowdonia National Park Centre near Maentwrog. For information on how to get to Plas Tan y Bwlch click here
