Abstract This is a small historic dataset held at the BRC. It covers the Dixidae, or meniscus midges. Data were mainly collected by Nature Conservancy Council recorders and during the 1988 Dipterists' Field Week.

Original Title Dixidae (Diptera) records from Britain and Ireland to 1988
Temporal Coverage Notes The dataset spans 1880-1988 but most records are from after 1962.
Purpose To collate the data and encourage future recording. This group is useful for monitoring water quality, especially surfactant pollutants.
Capture Methods Many records were collected using water traps. Conversion of the data to electronic format took place at BRC.
Verification/Validation Procedures Data were checked as far as possible by the Scheme organiser at the time.
