Lichens |
Abstract |
Chirk Castle is a medieval castle owned by the National Trust, surrounded by parkland containing veteran trees. The lichens of the parkland were surveyed in 1996 as part of a broader survey of Welsh parklands (Orange 1996). This survey covered only areas east and south-east of the castle. The present survey was commissioned to check the condition of the lichen flora, and to examine additional areas and substrates. |

Geographic Coverage Notes |
Not all parts of the property could be visited due to lack of time. A few trees examined at the west end of the site proved to be shortly outside the NT property, as there is no physical boundary at this point; the records are included below. |
