The PoMS 1 km square survey runs across 95 one-kilometre squares in the UK, and we have a fantastic team of volunteers to carry out these surveys. There are still some squares left that have not yet been 'adopted' for 2024, and they'd love to hear from anyone who might be interested in taking this on.

Wrexham County Borough Council are looking to appoint a Green Infrastructure project officers to work on biodiversity and nature based projects around the County Borough. The posts are funded through the Welsh Government’s Local Places for Nature funding and form part of our Local Nature Partnership. This work seeks to improve biodiversity across Wrexham, and we are looking for people who have skills, experience and passion to deliver projects that will make this ambition a reality.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated developer with a solid foundation in front-end development. This unique opportunity will allow the successful candidate to work with a modern and bespoke web platform, built from the ground up specifically to meet the needs of LERC Wales, its partners and customers. The successful candidate will lead development of the front-end of the application with support, direction and training provided by LERC Wales Aderyn Lead Developer and colleagues, but will also have some involvement in the server side of the application.

Gylfinir Cymru/ Curlew Wales are fourteen different organisations working together for curlew in Wales.
The population of this iconic bird is in steep decline in Wales. Survey work is vital in finding curlew during the breeding season to allow conservation measures to be put in place.
This local project is part of Curlew Connections Wales and covers the Important Curlew Area in Denbighshire, stretching across in to Flintshire and Wrexham a little.
You will be volunteering alongside project staff and other dedicated individuals. Training will be available in early March. This would be suitable for students looking to improve their bird identification skills, to gain further experience in the conservation sector or other individuals looking to help save curlew in Wales. NWWT are seeking volunteers for the Osprey Lookout, Hide and Visitor Centre based at Llyn Brenig. They also need volunteers to keep an eye on the ospreys between 6pm and 8am each night, via online footage from the comfort of their own home.
We are aiming to collect nocturnal parasitoid wasps that occur at moth traps from across the country. We are looking for people who trap frequently, especially in woodland/natural areas between May and September of this year. Gardens are also fine, although due to limited funding, we may have to cap participation and prioritise areas that are more likely to attract parasitoid wasps. We will ask participants to collect parasitoid wasps in tubes containing ethanol and to send these back to the NHM, where these will be identified and incorporated into the museum's Hymenoptera collections (with due credit to the collector). ID will be returned to the collector. Collecting equipment (tubes and ethanol) and postage will be provided. If you are interested in participating, please get in touch.
