Are you interested in finding out more about wildlife? If so, volunteers are needed to help with national or locally run surveys. Sometimes training is available as part of these but our calendar also has details of other training courses, which may help improve your species identification and survey skills. Use the search facility to choose between Surveys , Training , Events or Meetings , or search by date or keywords.
Our calendar is not exhaustive and we need you to send us details of relevant events to keep it up to date. You may also find details of other biodiversity related events on the Wales Biodiversity Partnership website.
Please note that meetings last until approx 3 pm, so make sure you bring lunch and enough water to keep you going. If you prefer, you can join us only for part of the day, and that's OK with us too.
Please ensure you are dressed appropriately for outdoor meetings and have all waterproof and warm gear/footwear that you need in North Wales! Please also make sure you read the risk assessment and the British Bryological Society Safety Code.
Indoor meetings are designed to train members in the use of microscopes for bryophyte identification, and in the interpretation of keys and illustrations in bryophyte id books. Bring your own microscope, if you have one, or use the ones kindly lent to us by Cofnod.
Lots of wildlife talks and activities at Plas y Brenin.
More detail will follow on on the PYB website.
Habitat management for reptiles and amphibians.
Conservation events in Snowdonia.
Join the NWMG during the day to check some bat boxes to see who is home! Sam is often able to show bats in the hand so you can appreciate these marvellous creatures up close.
Followed by some food in the Oakley Arms, Sam will be carrying out some trapping for Nathusius' Pipistrelle - this is part of the Welsh National Nathusius' Project so you will be helping
us to gather important data on this species.
