We are in the midst of the 6th mass extinction event, with extinctions occurring faster than at any time in the last 65 million years. ‘Bioabundance’ is in decline, with recent studies showing that insects in particular seem to be disappearing fast. If it continues, this will have profound consequences for mankind and for our planet.
Dave Goulson will explain why insects are decline, and suggest how we should tackle this crisis, first by turning our gardens into oases for life, and second by fundamentally changing the way we grow food.

Indoor meetings are designed to train members in the use of microscopes for bryophyte identification, and in the interpretation of keys and illustrations in bryophyte id books. Bring your own microscope, if you have one, or use the ones kindly lent to us by Cofnod.
Wales’ wildlife continues to decline according to the State of Nature 2019 report, with the latest findings showing that one in six species in Wales are at risk of extinction. Since rigorous scientific monitoring began in the 1970s, there’s been a 13% decline in average abundance across wildlife studied across the UK.

Dyma arlwy Llên Natur am fis Hydref. Mae’n rhyfedd sut mae pob tymor - pob mis i raddau - yn cael ei nodweddu gan y pethau sydd wedi mynd â’ch sylw chi. Gwyfynod mewnfudol sy’n sefyll allan y mis hwn, ac yn gynyddol, eu hepil a fagwyd yma yn groes i’r disgwyl yn sgil y tywydd poeth iawn. A son am dywydd poeth, mae gwleidyddiaeth Newid Hinsawdd hefyd yn poethi. Rydyn ni’n ceisio cadw hwnnw allan o’r Bwletin ond does dim rhaid sgrolio’n bell yn Cymuned Llên Natur i deimlo’r gwres!
