Gwynedd Council is looking for a highly motivated and organised ecologist to provide specialist ecological advice on various developments within the county. These will include planning applications, as well as larger developments and consultations.
You should have an appropriate environmental degree/professional qualification and relevant experience, including dealing with European Protected Species, bats in particular. A sound ecological knowledge is essential as is experience with ecological impact assessment and mitigation strategies. A confident understanding of the Planning process and environmental legislation is also essential. You should also have relevant experience of landscaping issues and the Hedgerow Regulations.
The ability to communicate to a wide-ranging audience effectively and fluently in Welsh and English is essential. You must also be able to present written information in the form of detailed technical reports and provide sound reasoned arguments and opinions.
This post is a 4-day/week contract for a period of one year only to cover whilst the Council’s Senior Biodiversity Officer is away on a sabbatical.
