Moelyci Social and Natural Heritage Project - Volunteers Required!
Heritage Volunteers wanted for the Moelyci Social and Natural Heritage Project which will uncover, record and share the social, agricultural and natural heritage of Moelyci as a traditional Welsh upland farm.
The backbone of the project is the creation of a heritage trail that will draw together:- historical and archaeological features;- memories of local people connected with Moelyci, through oral history recordings;- improvement and conservation of habitats, and recording of species;- the impact of human and farming activity on the land and its biodiversity. You can help!
The project offers an exciting range of activities for volunteers of all ages and backgrounds to help with:- interviewing, filming and recording local people;- research and archiving;- practical land conservation;- learning and using traditional rural crafts and building techniques;- excavation and conservation of historical features;- designing and producing exhibition materials, booklet, leaflets, web-pages, downloadable mp3, etc.Volunteers can help for a few hours a week, throughout the life of the project or for specific tasks. You can put to use skills you already have and learn new ones; discover the history of Moelyci and the locality; meet new friends; gain work experience and training, and of course, have fun!
The project will generate a valuable resource for local schools, community and libraries and for visitors to Moelyci and the local area.
